Columbus Chemical Industries specializes in supply of high-purity customized Ceric Ammonium Nitrate based Chrome Etch solutions to support Chromium and Chromium Oxide thin-film etching systems.
Consisting primarily of high purity Nitric Acid, Ceric Ammonium Nitrate and DI Water, Chrome Etch solutions are formulated with these components in a variety of ratios to meet each end user’s unique requirements for etchant rates, specific to their application.
In a wet etching process, the fresh Chrome Etchant solution fills the system’s reservoir to allow full submersion of the substrate. The part is left in the Chrome Etch bath for a prescribed time, at a defined temperature, for the appropriate amount of chromic etching to occur. As the chrome is selectively dissolved, the reaction forms visible chromium compounds which are then rinsed away from the substrate after it is removed from the Chromium Etchant bath. A Chrome Etch bath may be used for multiple rounds of thin-film etching, if the etch rate continues to be within the process defined parameters, before the spent chrome etchant is disposed of.
With capacity to blend Chrome Etchants in single drum batches, up to tank volumes, and package Chrome Etch in sizes ranging from gallon bottles to 55 gallon drums, Columbus Chemical Industries provides your thin-film process a consistent quality etchant, from bath to bath, in ready-to-use amounts. In addition to providing consistent and precise batch results, using a customized chrome etchant prepared by CCI reduces your need for on-site chemical blending, contributing to both your safety and efficiency.
If you are in the market for a custom chrome etchant to support your thin-film processes for chrome, chrome-nickel alloys, silver, copper, molybdenum or tungsten films, let Columbus Chemical Industries know what your application requires. We are expert in safely providing high-purity, precisely blended etchant solutions, and look forward to connecting with you!
